What Comes After…
is a series of pocket-sized zines prompting reflection on restorative justice topics, including conflict, punishment, harm, crime, incarceration, and more to come.
Asyia Gover, professional educator and mediator, writes and publishes these zines through Camassia Creative Media with the goal of stimulating public awareness and discussion of restorative justice.
Each zine includes a section for the reader to complete by noting their personal experiences, feelings, or memories related to the topic. The reader is invited to study their own life and uncover where they were taught societally-normative responses to harm and unfairness.
These zines are not meant to say everything there is to know about the topic – they are a bite-sized introduction to thinking differently about conflict, violence, justice, and peace. Each zine also includes a suggestion for further reading, drawing from foundational texts in the fields of restorative justice, critical theory, and conflict resolution.

What is the purpose of What Comes After… ?
This series can be used for self-reflection, guided journaling, discussion prompts, and more. Read them over and over, or give them to a loved one who might appreciate re-thinking justice and peace.
Who should read or use What Comes After… ?
Anyone who lives in a society or has relationships with others can benefit from What Comes After… .
In particular, people who are tired of suffering the consequences of conflict or injustice, or of seeing their loved ones harmed, may find value and transformation in studying these topics. People who feel disturbed to notice the presence of violence, destruction, and disrespect in society, and don’t know what to do about it, may find the seeds of an answer in What Comes After… .
Why try What Comes After… ?
Although there are many resources by which to study restorative justice, conflict resolution, and peacemaking, some are gated behind academic journals, some require advanced literacy skills, some are predicated on existing knowledge of history and theory, some are maligned by institutions in power, and others simply exist in obscurity, unable to reach a willing audience.
What Comes After… grounds the topics in the most foundational knowledge that any student has: expertise on the self. In this series, learning about restorative justice is concise, relevant, and accessible for a much wider variety of people than the typical reach of traditional texts in this field.
